Island Signs: Artwork Requirements

A sign company is not a printing company. Although, we use CMYK for printing in full color, the files we need follow specific guidelines. If you have further questions about the files we accept, please email us or call us.

Remember when viewing a proof which we send to you through email, monitors are viewable in RGB only or Red Green Blue. Whereas, when we print the colors are CMYK or Cyan Magenta Yellow blacK. Therefore, colors won't match, expect discrepancies. Most Pantone colors won't covert to CMYK colors when printing signs, therefore, expect distored colors.

Size all artwork to the actual size and scale you wish for cutting or printing. Sizing up files after sending them causes pixels to distort.

Acceptable File Types:Printing
EPS: OS 8 PC/OS 10 MAC
TIFF: no layers
JPEG
PDF: 4 & 5 with fonts embedded

Vinyl
EPS: OS 8 PC/OS 10 MAC
PDF: 4 & 5

Guidlines For Files:
1. Make sure all file names include file extensions, such as JPG, EPS, TIFF, PSD.
2. View your file blown up to the size you desire to print at, if it's pixelated, your sign will be too.
3. No layers accepted with TIFF files.
4. Embed fonts with PDF files.
5. For vinyl cutting: Convert all text to curves and outlines, close paths, and no overlapping lines.
6. A good vinyl cutting file is scalable to any size without pixels distorting.
7. Files should be a minimum 300 ppi at 100%.

Rejected File Types:
1. Any file from a word processing program: Word, Excel, Publisher, Pagemaker, etc.
2. GIFs
3. Images from the web
4. Faxes
5. Low resolution photocopies
6. Possible copyright infringement without permission for use
7. Importing a non-vector image (such as JPEG, TIFF) to EPS and then saving it as EPS does NOT make it an EPS file.

Cleanup Fee:
We charge $75/hour for cleaning up any file deemed unusable as is. We'll notify you before cleaning up the file to give you the opportunity to provide a higher resolution file.

e-Mail: Files under 3MB
